Why your company needs a website

Websites for small businessesRecently, I have had several potential clients tell me they do not need a website for their business because they have Facebook. My response has been the same on each of those occasions. So, you are not interested in a customer base outside of Facebook, is that correct? Each time, the potential client has looked at me as if he or she was lost. So, the question arises, is Facebook enough to promote your business to the extent that you want to promote it.

Will your business profit from a website?

A couple of years ago I approached the manager/co-owner of a local restaurant about his need for a website. He insisted he didn't need one. My response was I honestly believe that it would be to your advantage if you had a website. He decided to give it a try and allowed me to develop a website for his restaurant. Within one month of his launch date, he informed me that the website had already paid for itself due to three different catering events that came through the contact page of his website.

It is important to realize when people are searching for something that they want, we do not use the phone book any more. Instead, we use the internet. Without that internet presence, how many events and/or sales is your business missing out on?

Research has shown that 81% of people research a business or service on the internet prior to making a purchase decision. That's over 25 million people serching for businesses online. Yet, 46% of business owners listed "Business currently doesn't need one" as their #1 reason for not having a website. Without a website, how will your business capture a share of the market from online searchers? There is a major disconnect here....

A Website Adds Instant Credibility to Your Business

The 21st century consumer is a skeptic; in fact 56% of people stated they would not trust a business that doesn't have a website. Having a good website instantly boosts your credibility as a legitimate business.

First impressions have always counted. A website allows you to make a very strong impression with a well designed intorduction for your business. We like to say that your website is your online front door to a global customer base. Even if the product or service that you are providing is not available on a global level, a website still provides you an online presence to your specific target base for new customers.

Remember the restaurant manager I mention above? In the last 90 days, Google Analytics reports that he has had over 2 thousand visits to his website. Now, every visit does not convert to a sales conversion. Yet with that number, it is safe to say that his business has been much better because of having a website.

Save Time And Money By Having a Website

In the course of a business day, how often do you need to stop what you are doing to answer the phone to find it is a potential customer with a question or possibly answering a question by emai?

Having a website can say you that time, allowing you to perform your work tasks more efficiently, by providing answers to common customer questions and inquiries. What does this mean for you? You can spend your time doing more lucrative things thus increasing your overall profit margin.

Websites offer a better return on investment than any other form of advertising. If you are planning to market your business, a website should be your first priority!

Over time the relatively low investment of getting a business website will pay dividends by driving you new customers and building your brand. Plus, it is a legitimate business expense and tax write off.
